Why do we dream?
Some possible reasons of why we dream may include representation of unconscious desires and wishes, interpreting random signals from the brain and body during sleep, consolidating and processing information gathered during the day and to work as a form of psychotherapy.
Researchers have also speculated that dreaming is a kind of subsystem that is active during mind wandering and day dreaming. Dreaming could be seen as cognitive simulation of real life experiences. Dreams are highly meaningful reflections of unconscious mental functioning.
